I have OMC side mount control box with red plug. Key switch sticks in start position unless I turn it back to run position. Can I lubricate switch and if so how or do I need a new switch?

Spray some WD-40 into it. Maybe it will work, maybe not. Nothing to lose by trying. If it doesn't work, get a new one.

Yeah... What Scott and F_R just said. WD40 may do the trick but if not, replace it... don't play around with it.

Sprayed WD40 on switch and after turning back and forth a few times it now returns to run position as it should.

Glad to hear you got it fixed. Just FYI, my key also used to stick just like yours, same control box. The WD-40 worked for awhile, but eventually it was permanently sticking. The ignition cylinder swap is pretty easy.

May give you no more trouble, but I like to use electrical cleaner rather than lubes (which can attract dust or whatever). I use the CRC stuff, but don't know if one is any better than another. Unhook the negative battery cable first, and let it dry out/evaporate for a bit before using live.

I found that CRC-666 is the best at attacking salt corrosion/buildup.

Thanks guys definitely agree disconnect battery, and will use CRC to clean it up. Joe you are spot on with salt corrosion diagnosis as I fish along Louisiana coast.
