OK I have searched the threads but haven't found specifically what I'm looking for so here goes.

I will be mounting a Yamaha Long Shaft (20") 9.9 4 stroke kicker to my boat for trolling purposes. My question is in regards to which bracket I will need. I am looking hard at the Garelick 4 stroke bracket but it comes in two sizes, 9 1/2" of travel or 15 1/2" of travel. I am thinking the 15 1/2" model is the way to go but if the shorter one would work I would rather go with it due to it would keep the kicker closer to the transem.

Attached are a couple photos of my boat. I'll be mounting the kicker on the starboard side of the main engine.

Re: kicker installation help/suggestions

I am not an expert in this field but have installed a couple of brackets in the 20 years. First off, you do not have room for the bracket you are referencing. You need to get the type of mounting bracket to allow you to install the bracket to the swim step and then the motor onto that. That is they way boaters around this part of the country handle that situation.
My next question is, "do you currently own the kicker motor you are planning on installing?" If not consider the extra money and buy one with hydraulic tilt. That would make it a lot easier. If you are going to buy a new motor also consider the T8 or T9.9 High Thrust model.

Yes I already have a used motor that I am buying. Check out the link below and you will see the same style boat as mine pictured with this style mount.
