hello,
I just bought a pair of kicker ktm6 speakers for my tower. What is the best 2 channel amp to use to set up these speakers? They are 150w rms. Also, how should I wire these into a 2 channel amp? Should I bridge the channels? Put speakers in parallel? Any opinion helps! Diagrams would be great too!
Thanks

Re: kicker ktm6 tower speakers

I think the ktm6 speaker is simply a two-way 6.5"speaker. They are rated at 4ohms per speaker...If you only have 1 pair of them, you only need two channels....one for each speaker. Any quality amplifier will easily handle an impedence of 4ohms(quality amps down to 2ohms) per channel. Get an amp with comparable output wattage (150w rms x 2). Kicker makes decent amplifiers if you want to keep everything matching.

I just double checked....the ktm6 has two 6.5" woofers and a tweeter but still only one input for each enclosure.

So since these have only one input for each enclosure, and I have two enclosures, should I run each enclosure to their own channel? and that would be a 4ohm setup correct? So, If the amp if 300w rms at 4 ohms then with this setup it would be running 150w to each enclosure right?
Thanks

Correct, if it is a 2 channel amp, one channel to each enclosure.

Geez, 150W per channel to a 6.5" woofer seems extreme, but do what you want. I would think 75-100W would be more than ample. Hell, 50W RMS is usually more than enough to damage hearing for those on the boat. As far as amp brand, buy whatever is marine-rated and cheapest. The name on the amp is of little importance if you aren't entering SPL car-audio competitions.

And **** off every other boater and homeowner within a mile radius.

That's what ear buds are for.. :D

I would highly recommend MB Quart marine amps. They have true conformal coated circuit boards, are as powerful as any multi-channl amp out (true 60w/channel RMS), have incredible sound quality and won't break the bank. http://www.amazon.com/MB-Quart-NAU4...N4WC/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1333158138&sr=8-2

The 4 channel model is only $40 more than the 2 channel.. I would go for that so that you have room to add more speakers if you want later on down the road.

..and yeah.. careful with those tower speakers. They project like crazy. You really don't need to overpower them.
