I currently have a 18' 2012 Tracker Targa with a 115Merc. I also have a 16 ft Sea Nymph with a 15 Hp Mariner that I use for salmon fishing in the rivers. Now that you know my set up I have 2 questions.

1.)
I want to use my 15hp as a kicker motor but I don't want to permanently fasten it to my Tracker. I want it to be fastened to the boat enough to trailer with it but I don't want to have to go to a great extent to remove it and put it back on my salmon boat? Any recommendations?

2.)
I need to create a Tie Rod. I have a friend who does good metal work but I want to know that I am using my best options. Anyone have a great set up for their kicker motor and tie rods?

All pictures will be greatly appreciate! Thanks in advance and tight lines to all!

I use a gas operated OMC kicker bracket. The 9.9 is clamped and also bolted to the bracket with wing nuts - it comes off in just seconds. It's been riding there for 31 years without any issues. My previous boat was an OB, and the kicker was mounted right on the transom. Same bolt-on setup.

The tie rod is a 3/8" 316 SS rod, threaded at both ends. The connectors are a Quick-detatchable marine ball and socket. The ball ends are mounted to 1/4" x 1" 316 SS flat bar, that are fabricated at appropriate angles to mate the kicker to the outdrive. I probably have 20 bucks in the rod, with all the SS parts scavanged from scrap pieces from a machine shop.

Looking at what Iboats has to offer it's not really worth the money, time, and effort trying to make one your self.

No Title

this works just fine for me. Some 3/8" SS rod and a couple of cheap go-kart tie rod ends.

Yes, the Panther kit works very well, easy to install and is low in cost.
