Kicker motor mounting on swim platform?

HI all

I have a 1987 21 ft. Sport Craft in Mint Condition. Runs great and idles down to 3.5 mph. (perfect for down rigging)

My question is... I have a two year old Yamaha t-8 kicker that I pulled off my Ranger and I would like to put it on my SC (for safety and keeping the hours off of my big motor). I always believe in having two sources of power to get me home besides my oar! Problem is I have a beautiful Teak swim platform. So, can you mount it off of that if you had the right support(s)? Or should I just think about removing the teak altogether. I also thought about taking a third of the platform off to get the mounting hardware right on the transom. Sooo, what do you guys think? Anyone done this before? Photo attached...Thanks

Ayuh,... That don't look like much of a swim platform to hang a motor off from...

Thanks for the reply Bond-o. Its 1 1/2 Teak...seems rock solid. I thought maybe with stainless supports, it would hold a bracket. I was iffy about it, hence my question if anyone else had done it. The motor, weighs just over 100#s. Do you still think it's too much weight?

Id' be more concerned about what is holding the swim platform to the boat, than the thickness of the teak. Holding the bracket isn't as important as holding the weight of the motor and handling the force of the motor when under power. I assume yo'll be able to steer a kicker and see over the bow all without standing on the swim platform?

I guess this just seemed logical to me in the beginning. You brought up a good point about the torque of the engine underway though. I figured if the motor weighs 100 lbs, the teak should handle it easily, since there isn't even a hint of flex when I stand or jump on the platform (200 lbs). There are three stainless steel brackets attached to the teak...It's all pretty solid.

Connecting cables or rods to work from the steering wheel is something else I haven't even thought about. However I know that can be done.
