Sorry for what seems to be a silly question.

Is Kill switches only for OB motors. Can an I/O have some sort of kill switch if the driver falls out of the boat in motion and is the only person on board.

all boats and personal water craft have them,,after a certain year and size,, standard equipment,,from what I understand.
Mine does not have one,,so I met the owner of autoteather at the RI boat show and he hooked me up with safety sytem and gear to make it work.

I have another question...Is it possible to set up an older outboard that is tiller driven with lanyard kill switch?

You would probably have to drill a hole in the cowl to accept the switch but it can be done.
