HI all, I just picked up a '64 Glasspar Seafair and I have some questions regarding the killswitch on the particular remote throttle I have. First, is the little 3 prong pink stub a kill switch? I'm new to boats, go easy on me eh? ;) I was assuming it was, and is missing some piece, so I went ahead and bought a universal one. Realized it has 4 terminals, and the (what I'm ass-u-me-ing is the) old one has three.

I'm hoping this explains why the motor won't start. Can anyone point me at least generally north on this topic? I've searched, but at some point I gotta just ask. Thank you!

Looking at the universal kill switch, it looks to me why it has four terminals is because two terminals (across from each other) short when the lanyard is pulled out and the other two terminals (again across form each other) will open when the lanyard is pulled out. That way it can be used for either type engine setup. And if I am not mistaken, your engine shorts the primary side of the coils when the lanyard is removed killing the engine. But I am merely assuming that not being there to actually see. JMHO

If you might point me towards where I should look for the kill switch I'd appreciate it. The controls I have don't have the killswitch built in, so now I suppose I'm wondering if the thing even has one? Nothing on the dashboard anywhere. Engine is the 77EL77S. Is it possible there wasn't one ever supplied or installed?

Yes it is very possible there never was one installed. But you can install one where ever you like. Usually it is installed very close to the controls for obvious reasons. That makes everything right there close together when getting ready to start the engine. JMHO

Engines are designed to run without a killer switch in place. They will not run without neutral switch input, or even turn over for that matter
