Kill Switch question

1998 Mercury Force 90 HP.

Was doing some testing at the house today and noticed that the motor will try to turn over with the kill switch in the off and run position.

Is that normal?

Never really tried it before, but I would have assumed that the kill switch would disable the motor/starter entirely.

Re: Kill Switch question

The kill switch does nothing more than eliminate spark to the engine. So yes you can still crank it, but no spark will occur in the kill position.

I think so people get confused between the kill switch and the started interlock.
