Killing aphids in a tall tree?

I have two trees in my front yard that are approximately 25' tall. I have no idea what kind of tree they are. Every year about this time, the trees become infested with aphids. Apparently aphid droppings are sticky goo, which cover all my vehicles parked below. It gets so bad my windows won't roll down because they're so sticky.

What can I do to kill these little ********? Last year I bought some insecticide that attaches to a garden hose. It worked well, but I could only reach about half way up the tree with the spray. Is there anything else I can try before I call an exterminator or fire up the chain saw?

A ladder comes to mind.

Zm, you can get an adapter to attatch a hose to PVC so you could extend your reach. I can't remember where they are exactly, but the Home Depot sells them. They use them to blast tunnels under driveways and such so you can lay irrigation tubing underneath. So... I think they're in the irrigation section.

"Oh my beloved desert, yours is the only death I cannot bear." Edward Abbey????

(Sorry ZmOz) Ladybugs devour aphids, both the friendly native type and the Asian beatles that have become a household pest in soy bean growing areas. I believe you can buy both in bulk on the www or from horticultural suppliers.

Get a .22 rifle, a bottle of tequilla and shoot a few right between the eyes!! The rest should take the hint and start to leave. Hollow points work well! :D

Use a ladder and a piece of copper pipe or pvc to entend your reach and spray them.
