i have a sheet of starboard i am planning on making an extended swim platform out of it is the slick kind not anti skid any opinions on how to ruff this stuff up to make it non skid

You have two options.

Screw a nonskid surface of some type to it, or use a "V" shaped router bit and set up grid pattern on the surface.

Starboard is heavy and weak, so it will need to be supported well.
