Kitchen sink question

Our kitchen sink has one of those hand held (for lack of a better term) water squirters. Normally when the putton was pressed on the squirter the water at the faucet would turn off and you have a good strong stream from the hand held. Here recently water at the faucet does not turn off when the hand held button is pressed and the water stream from the hand held is weak. What would cause this?

Re: Kitchen sink question

Do you know what brand the faucet is?

Sounds like the diverter valve is shot. It is what diverts the water to the spray head. Most brands require you to almost fully disassemble the fauce to get at it, but after that, it's usually an easy fix.

Re: Kitchen sink question

be sure the water can properly escape too... such as clean exit holes (no lime scale) and check the screen in the handle too.

Deverter on mine is under the fawcet neck and you can get to it from the top without even cutting the water off. Brand unknown. I wouldnt have known but I put it in upside down the other day after cleaning and the fawcetr water wouldnt shut off when you mashed the squirter hose button.

Re: Kitchen sink question

The squirter pistol grip thingy should unscrew from the hose. Inside of that end there should be an allen screw. Unscrew this and the valve should come out. Clean the dirt and hard water deposits out and it should work good.

The valve access may be under the thumb squirter lever or in the squirter exit end. Try the end where the hose attaches first, that is where I have found all of mine.
