I have an 88 bass cat sabre with a mercury 150 xr4. There is a knob on the bottom of the steering column. What is its purpose. I have tried turning the knob but do not see any difference the the operation of the steering wheel. Thanks Doug

Ayuh,...

When you Tighten it, it should Stiffen the steering....

Thanks. I'll try tightening again. I hadn't really messed with it but was curious what it was for. I didn't notice the steering wheel getting tighter when I tried before. Thanks Doug

This is probably a dumb question, but if you pull the knob, does the steering wheel tilt ????

Re: Knob on bottom fo steering column

Hi 204,
No I tried that. I was hoping that was the case. It would give me more leg room. I have to leave the seat folded down to drive the boat. The boat has a hot foot. If I flip the seat back up I cant use the hot foot because my knees hit the steering wheel and console. Thanks for the comments. Doug
