knocking in motor

took my boat out this weekend .my wife got on it and was driven it. the gas got low and she changed the tanks. she didnt put enough mixing oil in it, but she put about half of what it calls for . it ran fine but when that gas was gone i put new tank of gas on and couple hours later it had very little knock in motor ( not sure where its coming from ) could it been from where my wife didnt put enough oil in ? and any ideal what it could be ....please help:confused:

Could be due to lack of oil in the gas, but you need to find the source of the knock, powerhead or lower unit.

its a power head the knock is so low but it sound like comeing from motor

Check the compression in all cylinders...........

i also forgot to put ,when it was running fine it got a miss like it was out of gas then a couple seconds the knock started

i check the compression and its good .but i saw some oil on the outside cover where the motor seats on, its not alot .oil was on the back side of motor near transom .any more ideals t check
