Has anyone used this KODI hardware/software for movies? If so, can you describe its advantages?

Thanks guys.

Yes. And quit using it when most of the Addons started asking for paid registration to continue working.

I have used Kodi for many years, and still using it on one of my clients. I have used it as a client, as I have a central repository ( server ) for my TV shows and movies.
My latest is using is on a Raspberry Pi 2 streaming from another Pi2 running Plex server.
I am about to set up another Kodi on a Pi2 but this time using it with local content.

I have had no issues. The few plugins I used, required that I have other access to the channel ( aka cable provider ) to log in.

Do you have specific questions?

I started using Kodi to stream sports channels, especially FS1 and NBCSN. I've found some other streaming services that aren't as good as Kodi, but for the occasional viewing, work OK most of the time.

staydry,
Central repository ( aka server ) is a computer that stores my movies and tv shows. It then has software that will allow it to stream the show to another computer that is attached to TV ( aka client ). This way I can watch the same show on different TVs with having multiple copies of the show, or different shows on different TVs without having to worry about where the copy of the show resides.

Hope that helps with the nerd to english translation ;-)

I was just introduced to Kodi, this past weekend, via a FireStick that you plug into the HDMI port on your TV. It also gave you a number of other platforms like Exodus. Seemed pretty slick. A FireStick costs about $40 on Amazon.

I take it you hacked the FireStick to add Kodi?

First of all, I did nothing. I knew nothing about any of this. I have a friend, who as far as I know, got a FireStick off of Amazon. It had Kodi on it, as well as Exodus and others.

Will just call you sergeant schultz from now on! :)

Been thinking about doing this myself!

Kodi itself isn't an issue. Just certain add ons to Kodi take you into another realm.

I just bought an Amazon Firestick with Kodi installed on it and I like it..
I have put a few add-ons but mostly i stick with what it came pre-installed,
It pretty much covers everything...
Got it for 60 bux on e-bay plugged it into my tv and after a little fumbling around
I seem to have more than enough tv and movies and alotta other stuff i have no idea
what it is to last me the rest of my life...
