How do i know if my 1989 bayliner capri (Force 85 hp) is L drive or not?
My uncle gave me the boat and i bought a seloc repair manual to guide me through fixing it. As I research I keep hearing about this L Drive. What is it? and how do i find out if i have the 1989 85 hp force, or the 1989 85 hp force L- drive?

Re: L Drive?

The L drive is an oddball I/O with an outboard powerhead inside and an outdrive, an 85 Force is just an Outboard. If you have an outboard on the back its not a L drive.
Let us know what you have.

...if it doesn't work, it's probably an L-drive. Just kidding...although given the general feedback on these systems I would/will avoid them myself. The lack of parts for them as well as what I assume was their hasty design and introduction seemed to have made them obsolete which is never a good choice for future use.
Good luck regardless
