L/u lube

any one knwo what kind of oil to use for a 1976 merc 115 hp L/U? I thinkt he stuff I'm using is to thin cuase when you shift into gear ( @ 900 :: 1000 rpms) it sounds really ruff, and really kicks in<br /> Thanks

Quicksilver High Perfomance gear lube is the way to go.But I think some of your problem is the idle on your engine is too high should be about 650-700 rpm in forward gear in the water.Maybe a tune up/Link& Synch is needed good luck

Sharkcat is right, that idle is too high to be shifting. Ouch!
