Re: Labor Day fatty

Nice! Lakes around here (middle TN) are so hot not many people catching much of anything that I know of, I pulled up a couple of rockfish at the start of the weekend but they were down deeper than I normally fish...glad to know someone is pulling in something worth taking pictures of!

Last week on Friday I pulled a couple of nice Bass out of a local pond on my lunch hour. The fishing had been pretty tough there for a while now as the bass were in there summer pattern. The fact that I caught 2 good sized bass over the noon hour is a good sign that the bass are going into there fall pattern as it is cooling off.

As soon as some more weeds die off it will be back to crankbaits!! Unless my current presentation is still working that is.

thats a nice chunk....The water is starting to cool down now....the summer had water temps in the hi 80's and some shallower ponds 90.....now since the water is cooling the fish metabolism is coming back to normal....they are getting frisky again.....they will be feeding good now with energy they had in the spring.....

fishing weedlines and dying mats is paying off now....be ready as the fun is just beginning....

Re: Labor Day fatty

After My last post I went to lunch (fished the local park pond) and caught a 19" bass. I won't try and estimate the weight (4#) because the battery in my scale is dead. I am kicking myself for not replacing that battery. I did take a cell pic of the fish but I doubt I will ever retrieve the pic from my phone to show it.

Sorry gonefishie if I'm thread jacking a little. Not trying to steal your thunder.Just got a little excited. It's been a while since I had a 4#'ish bass hit.

Normally, a 19"er is a little under 4lbs and if it's fat then it would be 4 or over. Gotta be nice to be able to wet a line during lunch.

Re: Labor Day fatty

It is so nice to fish during lunch. It's also a curse to try and make it back on time. I am a salaried employee so there are no hard and fast rules for what time I come and go. That makes it all the more tempting to take a long lunch when fishing.

Now that the bite seems to have woken up I'm sure there will be many more wet lunches for a little bit.
