so i took my avon S4 60, 15 1/2 foot to the lake, and went swimming, and had to go to shore to get back into it, any compact ladder options, or other solutions getting aboard with out getting into shallow water? by the way, i am a pretty big guy, 6'1" 230 lbs.
thanks, Paul

Stay away from that ladder, check the reviews, very poor rating...

The rope and rung ladders look like a great solution, but in practice they are difficult to use on a small boat. As soon as you put a foot onto a rung and try to climb, your body mass tries to "push" the ladder way up underneath the boat, to the point where the ladder is almost horizontal.

Go to You tube and search for "ladder on small boat". Someone tested several ladders on a SIB and posted the results. Good luck.

Sea Rider posted something which should be of interest. It is possible to make something similar with about a foot of PVC pipe and some rope. Drill holes near each end of pipe for rope. Install a loop of rope by running through the pipe and tying knots in ends of rope. Fasten loop to a single running line and fasten the end of the line to your boat. Bingo, one inexpensive boarding ladder which takes up very little space.

If you don't use your wooden seat patches, this is a very simple compact ladder, will need to sincronize well hand pull and foot stand up on tube. With a little practice will be a champ getting out of water, belt can be adjusted to match any person's height.
