G’day, Nick from Australia here, I just bought my first boat, a 2006 Larsen Bowrider with a 90hp Suzuki outboard. Being an American brand I can’t find much information about over here and thought I’d ask the locals!
A lot of my questions could be answered if I had an original owners manual, I’ve searched the net with no luck so if anyone can point me in the right direction...I have serial numbers: US-LAR794**G506 (I realise the last numbers mean something like “2005 model, 2006 build”) so Id like to know the exact model I have, without the manual I’ve managed to work out what most stuff does but not all. Thanks in advance fellas

Welcome aboard Nick, hope the fires aren't to bad in your area, sure sounds like a mess tho.

To answer your question there are not really any manuals for boats. When you buy new all you bet a a brochure for the new boat with lots of nice pictures and no real information. What you need to look for is the shop manual for the motor. You can research the web for your controls and gauges. You can look up the serial number or the HIN in with a decoder.

What questions do you have? Ask them here! Like Roffey mentioned, manuals are almost 100% useless in the boating world. They never cover the engine, as that will vary based on how the dealer rigged the boat. Controls also vary, depending on powerplant. Also, your boat has 14 years of previous owners doing all kinds of things to it, often involving some very questionable modifications and wiring.

The boat manual ends up being an outdated safety briefing that isn't of much use.

I wrote Larson not long after I got my boat (a '97 186 bowrider) and while they didn't have the manual for my boat, they did send me a pdf version of the 2008 manual. If you send me your email address via a private message, I'd be happy to mail you a copy.

That being said, I think you will find that what others have said is true: the manual doesn't have that much model-specific information, certainly nothing like an automobile manual. Nevertheless, if you want to take a look at the manual I have, I'd certainly send it to you.

Best,
Jim
