Larson Ignition Button?

If anyone has a Larson or regularly works on a Larson: Is it normal for the Larson to have a pushbutton start (in addition to the ignition key system)? If so, can you describe your start procedure and what indications you get?

So it's a long story why I would ask this question, but suffice to say I had a marina replace the wiring on a great deal of the engine. I am now several hundred miles away from said marina, and the boat is not starting properly. I have constant power on both sides of the ignition pushbutton (so the button is not doing anything). I get no alarms (low oil, etc) with the key in the "run" position, though I can hear a fuel pump come on and some relays clicking. When I originally asked the marina mechanics about the pushbutton, they looked at me like I had three heads. Just trying to get a baseline "normal" so I can troubleshoot. Thoughts?

Well, what kind of motor does the boat have? What year and HP? Normally boats will have an ign system customized to the motor, not the boat.

It's a 2003 Volvo-Penta 5.7L GI-C, 280 HP. I've just never seen a push button like this, but it looks like it was built in to the dash (i.e., not a later add-on), and I'm trying to figure out what "right looks like" so I can try to troubleshoot.
