Last Year MFG Manufactured a boat?

Hey all,<br /><br />I need a new hull and I saw a great buy on an 17' MFG Tri-Hull. I haven't got in contact with the seller yet but I was wondering what was the last year MFG made a boat?<br /><br />Are these good quality boats? My insurance agent will not cover any boat more than 25 years unless it was insured with them before. The cut off point for me is 1978 then.<br /><br />Thanks,<br /><br />

They went out of business in 1980, back in business in 1984, then out of business again in 1985.<br /><br />I'd also look for a new insurance company, thats rediculous.

Shade, Check out www.mfgboats.com, they have scanned images of old brochures up through 1979. I have 2 of them, a 1965 16 footer and a 1963 13 footer. I had to rebuild the transom in the 65 but that was 10 years age and it's still rock solid! Good Luck

Well it is All State Insurance Company and I have other insurances through them. Plus its only $42 a year for liability so I'm pretty happy. The 25 years old or newer is the only catch. Once I have it insured with them I don't have to worry about the age.

If he can't tell me the year of the boat? You can tell by the hull id? The last two numbers I believe is the year built? One of the letters is the month and day. The first three letters have something to do with the manufacturer name. <br /><br />I have to get my PA boaters guide out to make sure.
