I have owned a late 80s marnier 25 for 4 years now. Has been a great motor. It has begining to develop a slight issue with restarting once it has been run.
A typicl day of fishing will include starting the boat when off the trailer, starts great. Less than 5 secounds on the starter and runs nice idles nice.
Then a WO run to a stop thats maybe a mile or so, i let the motor idle for 30 secounds, shut down motor. Fish useing the electric motor could be for hours, until need to run again.
Usually the secound start is ok but not as good as the first, hit starter and it idles well enough, then i go to where ever, run electric.....
now about the third start is my issue. I will crank the motor, i will hear the motor fire so i let off the key but then it sounds like the motor "coasts" from the inital spin from the starter. Then it dies maybe 4-5 secound later. hit the starter again it will do the same, but if i am quick i can pop it into gear and throttle it and i am good. There is no preformance diffence that i can tell, same speeed and rpm at wo, and once it was run it will idle very good.
This past winter i replaced the plug, plug wires, cleaned the carb, new fuel filter, fuel lines. I little handymans tune up. That helped for the first month this season but now its showing it problem again.
I can jocky the throttle quick enough to where i lose no trust in the motor, as it runs very good, just a real annoyance. I feel i should not have to play with the gas to get a warm motor (or one that has run maybe a couple hours before)
Has anyone else had this problem and found a solution?
