I am looking at a newer boat with an older late 70s Evinrude 115 which does not have power trim. Can it be converted to Power Trim?? Is it as easy as buying a motor and ram on ebay then wiring it up and installing it?

Sorry if this question has been asked before in the past. I just need a quick answer.

Thanks!

Also. Are these points or electronic? When did they go to electronic?

Really need to know the year model of the motor you have. 73-77 years interchange and 78 up goes through at least the mid 80's. A CMC unit will probably be less trouble in the long run and can fit pretty much any motor.

If you mean tilt, and trim, that became available in 73. It will not bolt on to the engines with seperate stern mounting brackets under 73.

If it's a 78 or newer, buy a used J/E tilt unit on eBay. If it's older than that, consider a CMC unit because the J/E ones got for a fortune used. I have a '73 that I've wanted to add T&T to and I'm basically out of luck unless I want to drop $500 on it.

The CMC 130 is a great TnT, I am running one on a 1973 85HP rude on the back of the Skeeter bass boat, works great and never any problems.

Finding then used is like finding a needle in a hay stack.

Thanks wavrider, good to hear someone running one with my exact engine. I just can't justify spending $500 on adding that to my boat when my whole setup is probably worth $1500! I'm also concerned about adding additional weight/set-back on my boat which already seems to be transom heavy seeing as I'm at the max rated horsepower. I would so love to have PT&T though.
