Lawnmower parts on outboard motor???????

I have a friend of mine the has a Gamefisher 10 horse, Model number 574.59740 Well he asked me to rebuild the carburetor for it and I posted on this forum, asking where to get a kit. I had an answer to my post to go to the lawnmower shop and get the kit. Now, my question is. Is this true for this model? I really thought it was a joke. And what about points and condenser? Also can someone ID this thing for the year?<br />Well I think I'll go fire up the boat and mow grass

??? did you know that Briggs and Stratton is now making a line of outboards?..freshwater only , but TRUE !

Yeah, I knew that. But I believe this might be from the 70s. Hey that would be great if I could go to the mower shop and get fixed up.

Bearcamp its not a briggs and stratton its a Tecumsen engine All you need is the Model and serial # to get parts at any goo lawn mower shop. I have the Tecumsen technicians Handbook right in front of me with the carb rebuilding for that motor. And belive me you'll need it also to rebuild the carb. the fuel pump is tricky as far as placement goes.<br />steve

Stinky2, would you be willing to send me a copy of that rebuilding specs? I've done some already but believe this one is a little different. I know exactly what you mean about the fuel pump. You can be off on your adjustments just a hair and it's no good. If not, I understand.

Bearcamp - I could try to fax you a copy of the few pages on the outboard section. You could get a complete copy at the shop. Its a bright red 50 page handbook. Title is <br />Tecumsen Technician's Handbook 2-cycle engines. The shop I deal with have them right on the shelf for sale. If you can't get one near you I would be happy to get you one and send it to you. There is alot of good info on small engines that woould greatly inlighten your knowlage.<br />steve

How about if i give you my fax number tomorrow? I'm in Pa. and have quite a few books on small engines, but don't believe this carb is in any of them. How can I get ahold of you to give you my fax number? Email or ?
