Laying carpet in a cuddy step down.

Has anyone had to lay carpet in a cuddy step down area? and if you did how did you go about it? The deck is pretty straight forward, its the step down that has me confused. Any help/ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks...Lee

Anyone have any ideas? The step down is approx 14" wide stern to bow and open on the bow end into the cuddy and 18" wide port to starboard and 12"-14"deep. I dont want to mess up a $250.00 piece of carpet. I can get exact measurements if needed.

Id say seam at the bottom corners....Lay your bottom 14" wide pc in then start at the bottom corner and work your way up and out of the step down.
