I know this has probably been covered in the past but I want to be sure i understand how to do it. I am reattaching my floor to hull with fiberglass tape. I have the materials so what is the process? I planned on fillet, then epoxy, then tape, then epoxy then more epoxy. Can someone please go into detail for me as I have never dealt with laying fiberglass or epoxy before. Thanks a million, Chris

Re: Laying tape

I like to put down a Soaking coat of resin 1st,.. Then the fillet, resin, tape,+ more resin.......

It's My thought that the fillet putty is less likely to become resin starved, if the substrate already has a Soaking coat...........

Small batches on small areas til you get the rhythm................

Re: Laying tape

Here what I did. I mixed the epoxy and milled glaas no cabosil or anything else as All I wanted was strength. It was like peanut butter and I just used a plastic putty knife ie bondo spreader. :) I smothed this on eith side of the gap where the floor and hull met. The nex day I used a brush and just the epoxy mixed nothing else then layed the tape into the epoxy. I then used a roller to push the fabric into the epoxy. worked pretty well. The roller is an epoxy roller designed to do this. Then the next day I got the wider tape painted the epoxy on and layed the tape in and rolled that. Then I filled the weave the next day. The thiner you get the epoxy the better the strength is in the cloth not the binder. :)
