LCD pixel fix true or not?

I made the mistake of leaving my fish-finder display exposed to sunlight over the winter off season. As all boaters know the damage the suns rays can cause are very costly. so the center of my display looks distorted but still viewable. I had heard many years ago from a marine retailer that if you put an LCD display in your fridge overnight it would restore the pixels. I had also heard from someone that simply placing it in total darkness for a period of time would do the same thing. Before I go dismounting it can any one tell me if these work and if not is there any that does. Thanks

Dunno 'bout the fridge or the darkness, but I don't suppose it could hurt to try.

Try darkness first, it's dark in a fridge (when the door's shut) and maybe that's what's really doing it?

DOA, you can get a replacement LCD they drop right in if you can figure out how to get the case open. I'm not being a smart "a" about the case either.
