Hey all, I have an 1990 18' Bayliner Capri 1800, which Im told (by the manual) weighs about 1500 -1600lbs. Both leaf springs on the trailer are shot, one has the bottom leaf broken, and is actually curving downward slightly, and the other leaf spring on the other side has all three but almost sits flat. They're 3 leaf springs.

Here's my question... They're C-hook springs (or open eye) and im not sure how to measure them. From the center of the eye on one end to the center of the BOLT on the back end, its about 26.25". If I measure from the center of the eye on one end to where the "C" part really starts curving upwards, it's about 27.5". Do I go by the bolts, or?

Also, how much should each spring be rated for? I was thinking 1250 lbs each would be enough, but thats what im asking you all for help with. Whattya think? Im leaning towards the 26.25" springs, because I think the ones I have now arent recovering back to their original shape enough to be measured properly. Help?

Re: Leaf springs for 18' Bayliner

I found this company when I broke a leaf spring on a road trip this summer. They are by far, the most helpful people I've talked too for trailer parts.... and since I was from out of town they even found a location that could install them for me.

Give em a call. http://www.redneck-trailer.com/
