Leak In Lower Unit

My Lower Unit On My 85 Force Motor Was Damaged Prior To My Buying It. I Had It Welded And Checked The Impellar And Seals Which All Seemed Ok. We Rode Around For A Couple Hours And When I Got The Boat Home I Checked The Oil In Lower Unit And It Was Milky. We Put In New Screws For The Fill And Vent After The Weld Job. We Put The Lower Unit In A Barrell Of Water And Ran It For A Few Minutes And No Leak In Lower Unit. Next We Put The Muffs On And Got Water To The Pump And There Still Was No Leak In Lower Unit. Can Someone Shed Some Light On What I Need To Do Next. Almost Forgot We Also Check Seal At The Prop And It Looked Good. Thanks Ron

Re: Leak In Lower Unit

Sometimes, depending on the extent of the welding, the lower unit can warp. Then again it may just be that the seals needed replacing anyway.

If you are handy, seals are availble and the Clymer outboard shop manual will show you how to replace them.

This is not a job for a person who is not mechanically inclined.

Thanks John I believe I will run her again and if she leaks I will have someone check the seals. By the way where can I find a power tilt for my Bayliner that is used? Thanks Ron

Re: Leak In Lower Unit

Make up some saved searches in ebay for force, chrysler force, force tilt etc. They are always coming up on ebay for sale.
