I have an 88 16' SEA NYMPH wich I have only used three times. Each time I went out there was no water in the back where the bilge pump is and all the while I'm out there is no water. When I load it on the trailer and pull the plug about 25 gals. of water runs out. I have gone over the hull very carefully and can find no bad spots or loose rivets. Does the styrafoam under the deck absorb rain water and then seep out? When I go out again I plan to plug the inlet and outlet for the livewell. Is it likely that the lines to the livewell or the well leaks? The well looks fine but I can't see the lines cause they are under the deck. I just don't understand why I can't see water even when the boat is on plane and then all that water comes out later. Any ideas on how to find the source of the water?

Re: LEAK???

.Lite liner, When I have a customers boat with a leak, I advise them to have the boat loaded on the trailer with the plug in and fill the boat with about six inches of water. NO MORE. Then go looking under the hull for the leak. Fish wells <br />can have a leak problem in the hose that drains out of the hull. Have fun. nevjb

25 gallons is alot of water to be hiding, how long were you on the water? Were you moving or just sitting?<br /> I would think you would see it in the hatches, livewells or something. Check along the keel and rub rail for holes. <br /> A friend of mine had a boat and we had to be careful when putting it on the trailer. As the bow rose up onto the trailer the transom would go down and if you did it too fast a wave of water would come in. The same would happen if you backed the trailer in too fast.

Yes, the styrafoam does absorb water, very much water. <br />"NO" it does not seep out, "NO" it does not dry out, "YES" it is there to stay, adding much weight, and lessening floatation.

Re: LEAK???

Had the same problem as you in my 2002 Fisher Pro Avenger. Like you, I couldn't figure out why nothing showed up at the bilge pump while I was fishing. However, as the bow went up to go on plane, suddenly the bilge pump would have plenty to do. Pulling the plug when back on the trailer usually drained out about 10 gallons. I figured mine was leaking at about 2gph. The boat ended up going back to Fisher where they reportedly rewelded the transom and the keel. It's OK now.<br /><br />Before returning it to the dealer, I paid careful attention to what the transom was doing during launch and thoroughly inspected the livewell plumbing. <br /><br />Pulled up the bow and stern decks to check livewell fittings and hoses, both fill and drain. Put water in livewells to see if they'd leak. The outlet from the livewell pump Tee'd off to the front and rear wells. I suspected the hose running forward to the bow livewell might have a deck screw through it, so I eliminated the 'T' and ran the pump directly to the rear well. Didn't want to pull up main deck to check the hose that ran forward. This test disabled the front well and, in the process, eliminated the front running hose from consideration when the boat started filling up the next time out. The livewells turned out to be OK, but am including this to give you an idea of what you can do.<br /><br />You may also want to check to make sure your livewell drains are not clogged. A dead minnow or other creature may be lodged in a drain line causing the livewell to overflow. If you've got a well that stays full up to deck level, you've probably found at least part of your problem.<br /><br />If your boat's like mine, a battery powered drill with screwdriver bits, for pulling and driving decks screws, will be your best friend.<br /><br />Good Luck!<br />Bob

Re: LEAK???

I had a '90 Sea Nymph 19' FS. The boat was great. very solid. it leaked though, i filled it up with water and did see which rivits leaked. I tried to marine-tex over them but due to the movement of the loose rivets it eventually became ineffective. i installed a float switch in the bilge, never had a problem. the boat was moored all summer. just kept an eye on it and pumped it out thouroughly before use. I did think about drilling the old rivets out and using aluminum or stainless sheet metal screws with bedding compound but never got around to it.
