I have a leakage from the o-ring fittings on the top of the pump into the fuel bracket on my 150 Ocean Pro 98`. It starts to flow at once when I try to start the motor. It is not possible to get the hand pump hard, the gasoline will just flow. I have tried to put on new o-rings, but the problem is still there. Anyone who knows what this could be? I have just overhauled the carbs and sanded down the float bowls. Please see attached video on youtube.

EDIT; PS. The problem was there before I overhauled the carbs.

I used 3/8 x 9/16 o-rings. Is this the right dimension? The pump and bracket worked well on another motor half a year ago.

What did you clamp the hose with I don't know what size o-rings go in there. It looks like it is the hose leaking put some pics up of the whole assembly.

That just takes me to another website. What is the model# I can look it up. It looks like the white fitting is an elbow goes to a hose and that's where it's leaking. But the video is on the wrong side of the leak. I am guessing it's a vro still hooked up

you know the manual is VERY vague on this part....and the exploded diagram on evinrude site shows 2 of the same oil rings back to back.... from the manual and the exploded diagram..it is impossible to see what that male barb even plugs into!!!!!!!!!!!!.... ir...what other part of the fuel component bracket that accepts that barb and has fuel flowing through it!!!!

good luck

I can look at one once I get home

Thanks. Yes, the manual says very litttle about this. I think there shall be nothing more than the two o-rings, and that the male barb shall be plugged right into the bracket.

The crowleymarine website shows the exploded picture of the VRO pump to fuel bracket connection and the 3 Orings. They are 2 different sizes, although the size is not specified. They are a bargain at only $5 each.

according to this diagram...there are only 2 o rings on the barb that seems to be leaking... and 1 on the other end that goes into the pump. as well # 8 is listed as needing 2!! and it appears to be the barb itself!.....I cant see 2 of those.... and in this view you cant tell where the barb would insert into the bracket and what that looks like....

Here`s two photos. I have a pump (1994) where the barb is welded (sonic) from the factory, different from the diagram above. So this is about the two o-rings that shall fit the barb into the bracket. I have tried with another bracket too, but same problem.

can you removed the barb from the pump assy...and just trial fit into the bracket by hand...see if it in fact the right dia..... see if it wiggles a lot.... from your photo, I can see the bevel chamfer of the id hole in the bracket the barb goes in...but only one side of the chamfer shows....telling me the barb is not centered in the hole and that the barb is a LOT smaller than the hole!!

Thanks, you were right. I took out the three screws that holds the pump, and put back the old o-rings. When just holding the pump in position, I managed pump the hand pump hard without any leakage. Installed the three screws, and still no leakage. As you suggested, Bob, the problem was the centering.
