Leaking drain plug

My boat seemed to be taking on a bit of water, so I replaced the drain plug. Got one that had good reviews--
However, when I got it and put it in, I found that when I put some water in the boat while on the trailer, water dripped from the drain, a drop about every 10 seconds. Not major, but not good. I had it tightened as much as I could by hand.

Any ideas? Vaseline might help, but would be messy...

Teflon tape will not work on a compression type drain plug.

Are you sure the drip isn't from the transom wood around the drain tube?

^+1 what he said.

if that compression plug is leaking, its not the plug, its either your transom tube or transom has an issue.

I looked at your other thread about your leaky boat and this thread should not have been started.

Where is the leaky drain? In the transom or under that little hole in the deck you talked about? Is that drain smooth or threaded?

I had one of those drain plugs on the '56 MFG in my signature. They're adjustable so....crank down on it a turn or two to make it larger when it compresses and try again.
