leaking fuel hard to start

hi i have just brought a regal with a sports jet 90 merc when it is turning over to start fuel is pouring out the end of the carbs into the filter once it starts the fuel stops leaking but once shut down it pours out of the end of the carbs again the motor is very hard to start also but once running has plenty of power for a short while then stalls sorry hope this makes sence i have this boat in australia and cant find any help as boat is from usa any help would be great<br />thanks<br />mike

Taking a guess that the floats are'nt allowing the needles to seat (close) when the bowls are full, causing the carbs to flood.. <br /><br />I believe that the sportjet uses the same engine (powerhead) as a mercury outboard motor... Parts (carb rebuild kits ) should be fairly easy to come by..
