What do you guys recommend or have the best luck using to seal leaks where the unit goes through the hull. The boat is really nice and engine runs great, but I would love to seal those pesky leaks. It looks like the previous owner or a repair shop used a lot of clear sealant to try and fix the leaks. What do you say?

I used 5200 sealer on the last one I did, didn't leak a drop. Make sure you don't have a leaking bellows or shift cable too. Most of all, make sure the transom wood isn't rotted and causing the leaks.

Sealing it properly isn't a matter of caulking it with sealer, you have to pull the gimble bracket off and seal it fresh from the start to do it right.

Pull the outdrive, check alignment and order new seal. Most places have their own brand of prefered sealant so id inquire when i placed order. Also would be the perfect time to replace gimbal and bellows.

i agree, pull the unit and see why it is leaking. last year it cost me $2700 to have the transom replaced in by 8 year old deckboat, due to a leaking seal.

Ayuh,...

My 1st Guess is,...
The Transom is Rotten,+ Collapsing...

Band-aids aren't going to Fix it...
Replacing the Transom Will though...

yup.......pull her apart.....

bondos right....the reason for the leaking is that the transom is not at the same thickness all around the hole, due to rot.

it wasnt this way from the factory.....you can sillycone it all you want....and it still wont work.......

it needs to come apart
