Hey guys, new member here but not new to the forum. Already had so many questions answered in the forums so thanks for the help!

So I recently purchased a ‘90 Spectrum bass boat with an ‘89 US Marine Force 50. I’m new to outboard maintenance and care and admittedly, Force probably isn’t the best motor to start with but that’s what I got so, whattaya do??

So since I’ve had it for a couple weeks now, my father and I have replaced the impeller and the gear lube. The previous impeller was in pretty good shape. No cracks or damage, the fins were just slightly curved after use. The gear lube did seem to have a bit of water in it. I then pulled the plugs to check the gaps and realized they were surface gap plugs (which were new to me). So I’m not sure if I should keep those, because the motor seems to run fine, or replace them with the plugs recommended from the factory which are L82C’s. The thing that’s concerning me is that the front right bolt that fastens the lower unit sprays out a good stream of water when it’s running. I noticed when we put the lower unit back on that when the upper water pump tube connects to the lower part there is nothing to create a complete ‘seal’ from what I can see so I would imagine there would be a decent amount of ‘unused’ water that might be expelled into that section of the lower unit and exits through whatever areas it can. Is this an issue? Thanks in advance for any help. Here is a link to the motor running.

When running at muffs you will see some of the cooling water coming out of the drain holes in the LU.
But in this case it looks like there is a crack or a hole at the attached screw.
You have to look closer at the screw, the water impeller housing should have a plastic seal tube, part number FA485914 for the lower water tube inlet.
Earlier there was a rubber seal at the impeller housing instead of a plastic one.
Depending of what kind of ignition system the engine is equipped with what spark plug you should use.
Need the model number to figured out.
Generally you should use sure face gap style if it has CDI ignition system and if it has magneto or battery system it should have plugs with a bent electrode.

Next time you take it apart?? take a few pics and post what you have.
Nordin was right about the connector, it should have a taper for the water tube to fit into and make a good seal.
The water tube has a seal at the top and if anyone's pulled it(tube) out that will cause the water to leak where the seal is. #5/6/60
