Leaky rivets!

Hello. my older 12' alluminum cartopper leaks baddly. How can I cheap quick fix this? Is there a rubberized coating or a roll on product to use? Will rock gaurd work?

The cheapest solution is to tighten the rivets and apply GLUVIT.

Anything else that you try may not work or last and if you have to remove it you will have real problems.

use the search function or just browse through the restoration forum. Basically, you tighten the rivet but hitting it with a hammer while holding a solid object on the other side. Think of rivets as small pipes that are hammered to mushroom on the end. Over time the "mushroom" deforms a bit to allow the rivet/pipe some slop which leads to leaks. To fix it you must tighten it back up. BAM, BAM. (I personally haven't hammered on rivets since jr. high shop class )
