I have a 1998 Bayliner 2050SE with a 5.0 220HP Mercruiser.
1. Water is accumulating in the bilge the last 2 times I went out, figured it was from all of the water from the skiers/tubers getting into the boat soaking wet. But then I noticed that the little hole on the water pump had rust traces and buildup in and around it. Suspect it is the source of the water, but no proof.
2. When flushing in the driveway, I noticed the port side exhaust water is a lot hotter than the other side. The first ime I thought it odd, the second time I am now fearing a problem.

Are these related?

Recomendations....

Wanting to get out a few more times in Jersey!

If water pump is leaking from weep hole, thats your warning shaft bushing is worn, pump needs to be replaced, port side water being a little bit warmer is O.K, but you should be able to put your hand on the risers and hold it there, if to hot to the touch, then you have a cooling problem, but I doubt a little weeping form water pump would have much to do with it. If you boat saltwater, at the least I think its time to remove manifolds and riser, have them inspected and replace if needed, a rotted or plugged riser will be to hot touch, also what is your current running temp.

Just replaced my water pump on a 4.3L Volvo Penta. Prices vary dramatically and I found good prices and customer service at boatfix.com. They sell sierra waterpumps. Arrived in 2 days . FYI.
