Does anyone know where to get info on Lee Craft boats? I searched the web, but all I can find is a page that tells about the history of the company, and now Lee Craft is all R/C boats...

I know VERY little about boats in general, but I went to a yard sale and this guy had this little 15' LeeCraft w/40hp Evinrude, in exceptional shape with a firm price of $1K on it...I looked it over and really liked it, and knowing I was in the market for something to take the granddaughters out in, adn it was in my proce range, I went back in a week...I got it for $800 and he threw in a downrigger, two tanks, a new battery, a ton of life jackets (some still in plastic) and some other odds and ends...however, I can't find ANYTHING about Lee Craft boats anywhere. So, anyone can help?

Re: Lee Craft boats

One thing I would like to find out is, and I think I already know the answer, is Lee Craft boat quality as good as other well-known and more popular boats? I know that value is what pleases the seller AND the buyer, so I feel I got a great value. I DO wish I had bought a bigger boat, like an 18'-er with a walk-through windshield and open bow...but there were none available for around a grand at that time...as good as teh engine runs, I think it was probably worth a lot of the $800...or maybe not, but I am happy:)

It seems for $800 , you have got yourself a decent little package, those old rude big twin 40's are just about indestructable, I had a '66 also several years ago on a little 14 footer. Boat and motor is still going strong. When you get the 2 footittus you will probably still get $800 for your Leecraft as long as it still floats and runs.

Would that 40 horse push a bigger boat very well? I am not like some folks who think they need to run 70MPH to enjoy their boat. I take the grands out and it is just a pleasure ride mostly.

I am currently restoring a 78 Lee Craft Avenger and I do know they were made in Molino Florida.
