Leg oil?? aftermarket ok?

I usually buy the OMC Hi Vis gear oil for the leg's, but wondering who makes it?? Since OMC is out of business for like 10 years now, locally its $11 a litre, is the aftermarket stuff like Castrol EP90 marine gear oil okay to use?

BRP is still marketing most if not all of the old OMC fluids. As long as you don\'t need type-c electric shift fluid, any manufacturer will suffice.

Ya, it just the lower leg oil in a Johnson 115.

I would recommend any good brand synthetic Marine gear Oil for the newer gearcases, say mid-90s and newer. Synthetic is recommended for my '98 Johnny.

The regular dino Marine gear oil is fine for the older motors, just my preference.

Yep. Sierra GL-4 is like $5.89 a quart here on iBoats.
