Re: let me stir up the 'ole pot'

Hi Crab Bait,

Most of us know that the situation is Dang if you do and Dang if you don't.

If Saddam had only let us in to see for ourselves what he had, then he still might be in power. But then again knowing our government they still wouldn't have been satisfied if he had let them in.

But I feel that Saddam knowing what would happen to his country by not letting the US in would put the USA on everybodies crap list. It was this way of making us look like fools. Sad thing is that it has.

I feel that concentration should be put on how to remedy the situation instead of wasting time and money on what happened with intelligence. It has happened and it cannot be changed now. This may have been Saddams plan after all. Destroy the integrity of leadership and you will achieve victory by making the leadership questionable among its followers. This is what has happened.

I may or maynot agree with what our government does. I stand behind its actions because it allows me to exercise my freedom to be secure and not feel threatened by the outside world of our own borders.

This is just my point of view, and it makes me mad when an American questions our leadership. A soldier does not question his commanding officer, and I do not question the Commander and Chief. Accept what has happened and get on with life and strive to make things better for us and not to make things worse than they are........SS

Sure.
Then he should hire a defense lawyer to defend him in 400,000+ murders.

Re: let me stir up the 'ole pot'

Hi Crab Bait and SS Mayfloat

Interesting thought, a law suit, but would it help? The USA and puppet the UK ignored the UN, and their weapons inspectors and went for the throat. The evidence was at best questionable and the "threat to world peace, Iraq", now lies in tatters. I am still confused as to what Saddam was going to throw at the world that was about to cause a disruption to global harmony????

No, it would not matter what Saddam had shown (in fact he did it turns out in hindsight) it's just nobody believed him and nobody wanted to. Imagine if another country said to Mr Bush "show us your weapons of mass destruction" what do you think the answer would be? Get real.

No war is noble, no war is just. Unfortunately sometimes wars happen and people die innocently. Saddam is not my favourite person so I am by no means defending him.

Has Mr Bush now set an international precident? Is Mr Bush the "keeper of world the peace"? If so then Mr Bush would need to be as even handed with the rest of the world. Imagine how the American tax payers would be in for a serious "defence" bill. Is it not time to take on North Korea, they openly admit to a nuclear program, he should have ignored Saddam and had a go at the real culprits.

What about Zimbabwe, DRC, Angola. Forget Africa lets go look at the injustices in South America, Asia. When are you going to mount an armed attack to bring those injustices to an end Mr Bush.

I am no expert but am willing to bet that Mr Bush sits on the largest arsenal of nuclear weapons in the world. Who is going to police the US? remember the two individually largest military nuclear incidents were US led, Hiroshima, Nagasaki.

In another of the posts someone suggested joy at the death of Saddams two sons? Yeah, they were baddies that needed to be brought to book but I can't help thinking it's a sad day when we revel in the death of anyone.

Mr Bush was angry with Saddam for showing POWS on the TV, accusing them of flouting the Genava convention. He has just done the same by allowing the pictures of Saddams sons. Don't give me any of that #$%^@hit that they did it first. One either abides by the rules or you don't.

In closing. I don't know what the answers are but if one elects to take a course of action then this must be consistent, lets see if Mr Bush is able to.

SS Mayfloat...."it makes you mad when someone questions our leadership". I though this was the cornerstone of democracy, the right to question, debate and vote for / against depending on your personal convictions.

Why have a go at Saddam? If there is there any truth in the statistic that the USA consumes 28% of the worlds oil reserves whilst only producing 2% one may be forgiven for question the moral motive and seeing some form of economic one?

This was not the first such attack in the US. It may come as a surprise that other countries have experienced decades of terrorist activity without any intervention by the US.

There have been a few posts of "individuals rights" lately. These I think also relate to the topic above.

"SOMETIMES MY RIGHTS WILL INFRINGE ON YOUR RIGHTS"
When this happens please tell me who is right?

Cheers
Andrew

Re: let me stir up the 'ole pot'

Oh ANdrew it's Sunday night... and I'd really just rather laugh but ...

"I am still confused as to what Saddam was going to throw at the world that was about to cause a disruption to global harmony????"
Anthrax, VX, Botchalinum toxin, etc., etc. - all he had to do is slip them to Al Qaeda or one of the crazy islamic extreemists hell bent on our destruction - heck look what a handfull of them did with nothing more than box cutters...

No war is noble, no war is just.
Not even the war against Hitler? I think that statement puts you on the extreem fringes of society

No just our own peace and security. We aren't going to take any chances anymore.

As for the Koreans, we don't think they will hand their weapons over to Islamic whackos or try to nuke us - they are more likely to nuke the South Koreans or the Japanese. So they need to step up along with the Chineese to take care of that evil little SOB Kim Jong Il

Why do so many people on your side of this issue want us to deal with the Koreans alone but don't want us dealing with the Iraqis alone? I never understood that...

What about Zimbabwe, DRC, Angola. Forget Africa lets go look at the injustices in South America, Asia. When are you going to mount an armed attack to bring those injustices to an end Mr Bush.
Those are not our problems. They don't directly effect us - sure we will help out but we can only do so much - we have to take care of our own enemies first.

I am no expert but am willing to bet that Mr Bush sits on the largest arsenal of nuclear weapons in the world. Who is going to police the US? remember the two individually largest military nuclear incidents were US led, Hiroshima, Nagasaki.
Nobody needs to police us. We are a decent nation who has never hurt anybody that didn't deserve it. In case you didn't know, we were at war with Japan when we nuked them. They didn't give up even after the first bomb. It took 2. Then we rebuilt their whole country, gave them democracy and helped make them into one of the worlds leading economic powers. And we need watching? Hello...

Mr Bush was angry with Saddam for showing POWS on the TV, accusing them of flouting the Genava convention. He has just done the same by allowing the pictures of Saddams sons. Don't give me any of that #$%^@hit that they did it first. One either abides by the rules or you don't.
The GC covers prisoners - not war dead. We showed them so the ROW would have proof they were dead and hopefully to get the remaining holdouts to give up or flee.

SS Mayfloat...."it makes you mad when someone questions our leadership". I though this was the cornerstone of democracy, the right to question, debate and vote for / against depending on your personal convictions.
It is. That doen't mean you can't get ticked off by it. It just means we don't jail or kill decenters. It doesn't mean we don't argue back at them or marginalize them.

Why have a go at Saddam? If there is there any truth in the statistic that the USA consumes 28% of the worlds oil reserves whilst only producing 2% one may be forgiven for question the moral motive and seeing some form of economic one?
I'm sure you know DeBeers controls the world'ss diamond markets. That SA has pipe mines filled with diamonds. That if the market was not controlled by a cartel like DeBeers the value of diamonds would plumet to $1 a karat... so what's your point? People do things all the time for economic reasons - even South Africans. Would you guys have ended apartied if we and the ROW had not cut you guys off economically?

This was not the first such attack in the US. It may come as a surprise that other countries have experienced decades of terrorist activity without any intervention by the US.
Yes but this is the first big attack on us. We are not the world. It is up to the world to deal with its issues and we'll do what we can, when we can to help out. We don't owe the world a darn thing. Our obligations and duties are to our own people first and then the ROW. We are not your parents...

"SOMETIMES MY RIGHTS WILL INFRINGE ON YOUR RIGHTS"
When this happens please tell me who is right?
Depends on the context and circumstances .... In general throughout human history, might makes right. That's just the way it has always been and will be in the final analysis....

Re: let me stir up the 'ole pot'

what did 12 footer post as proof? didnt show up here!

I am confused too, sure seems as tho that Kim FREAK is a bigger threat than saddam ... saddam is a vicious killer, but hes a minor league bully running an oil rich, technology poor sand hole with oil at the bottom of it

saddam, the builder of hospitals

saddam, the butcher of his people

saddam, builder of highways

saddam, nerve gas using genocidal megalomaniac

North Korea now, different story ... two bit pisspot dictatorship, little more than rocks and mountains

Does Bush just want to make a grab for more oil?

hmmm, hes a savvy business man sitting in the biggest Big Chair in the world, its possible, its just possible thats true

BUT

America got slammed HARD on 9-11-01

As a collective heart and soul of a nation, it got slammed

As a massive military power it was completely untouched ... and America, in its near infinite power could have made a few million acres of middle east real estate into a riotous jumble of glassine slag, and barely dented the stockpile of "Preparation H Bomb"in healing over the raw wound that is the oil spouting anall orifi of the world

America instead counted to ten

Watched the ragheads dancing in the street

Listened to the cackle of filthy, cave huddled heaps of subhuman sh!t chortling over "the infidel ground shaking" from their cowardly pathetic attack

Then Bush sent them the only thing they understand ... the restrained fury of America, Power pouring down around them, the sh!theaps crumbling into successively smaller heaps of dung, then dust,
til it was nothing but broken rubble bouncing in the backwash of each bomb blast

then again ... what DO you do to a sh!thole that, for the most part, looks like the nukes have already done their worst?
