Lets start over.My problem was this. Needed to keep priming the motor with the primer bulb to keep it going, at idle every 5 min one squeeze with the bulb.As I increased throttle it would need prime more frequently.Every 5 sec at (WOT).Carb is clean and the float isnt stuck. The kicker is with an elevated gas tank the motor runs great. No priming needed.Whats up? is it the bulb or could I still be looking at a fuel pump? The motor is a 1985 mercury xd 18hp.

With the priming of the fuel bulb keeping it going, I'd rebuild the fuel pump.

As you were told before. Rebuild the fuel pump. Just looking at it doesn't tell you anything as you could have pinholes in the diaphram that you can't see. When you run the motor with an elevated tank it becomes gravity fed and the pump has to do very little if anything.

Re: Lets start over!

Should come with check valves as well. Be sure to put them in the same way the old ones were.
