Hey guys maybe someone can shine some light into my issue. I purchased a used lewmar v700 in good condition. I did the wiring and so far all good. The issue is the v700 will come up but when i click for down it grinds and does not let the rode or anchor loose. Prior to install i changed the fail safe kit and the control arm kit. I have tighten the clutch but still nothing. Winch works fine both ways without an anchor or rode.

Your gypsy isn't tight enough and there may be some debris that is preventing the gypsy from fully seating onto the output shaft. I would remove the gypsy and clean the interfacing surfaces with a degreaser and scotchbrite pad, then regrease, reassemble, and tighten.

I inspected the shaft and it was slightly bent. Ordered and replaced. Being the first time with a windlass and really not too savy on them the question is, what would be the correct position to keep the red fall safe lever? When the fall safe lever is fully engaged, the clutch does not go down, understandible. Only when partially on, but not fully gripping the gypsy i am able to drop anchor. The manual is not very clear. Any help is appreciated. At this point it is not acting as a ratchet, not really doing anything.

Presumably you put it in the down position (gypsy latched) if you don't want the anchor to deploy, such as when you're under way. To operate the windlass to deploy the anchor you move the lever to the vertical position.
