Since this is the repair forum this question may be in the wrong forum, but I need some of you repair experts to help with this since Mercury can't answer it for me....

I need to lift my motor.. I would like to know what the threads are (size, type, etc.) for a lifting eye that is needed for a Merc. 175 1986. If it a somewhat common thread I can make one instead of spending $40.

Re: Lifting eye ?

So the puller screws into the threads at the outer edge of the counter/bored shaped area of the flywheel? If it does, thats what I need...

It's not pipe thread is it, just standard?
If you have a link to that site, I'll check it out... Thanks

Re: Lifting eye ?

KC:
Made mine out of a piece of 1/2" plate, 3 holes 120 deg. apart, 3-8mm fine thread bolts, and an eyebolt in the center of the three holes - poor mans way. Works good - lifted my p/h off no problem. Hope this helps. No trouble to make - especially with a plasma cutter.
