I am currently working on getting my boat ready for the season. Am looking for any input on the best way to add wired lights too an older model aluminum boat. I am stuck with an older outboard and have been told will not output any type of electrical charge for equpiment such as lighting or radio. I am only aiming too add the Front green and red light and the Rear Stowaway pole light. Really am just trying too get the wireing down correctly and any added idea's would be great. Currently both lights will be run of a small 12v batt, again no charging unit so when the battery is draind the lights are gone as well. I've heard solar is an option but haven't come accross anything yet. And idea's would be appreciated.

Re: Lighting idea's.

If you pick up some LED lights they could run off a small battery for a long time. Run both + and - from the battery thru a 5 or 10 AMP inline fuse to each light. Since your running just to the lights run both wires to where you want it to go instead of using the hull for ground. Put a switch inline between the fuse and the lights.

Now you could also get the flashlight clamp type which would also last many hours on a set of batteries
