I got this motor from a friend that said this needed to be done/adjusted. I've done a few searches and there seems to be a lot of technical terms that i dont really understand. does anyone have a write up of this procedure along with some pictures??

With motor turned off.
Shift motor into forward gear. Move the throttle up and down and observe how the linkages move on the motor.
Move throttle all the way down. Look at the plastic plate between the carb and the flywheel it has two marks on it. The roller needs to rest between the marks. Adjust the linkage to make it so.
Look at the butterfly in the carb. It should be all the way closed. Adjust the linkage on the carb to make it so.
Move the throttle up to full throttle. The butterfly in the carb should be horizontal, or wide open. Adjust the carb linkage to make it so.
Move throttle up and down and observe all the above settings. Adjust as needed to synchronize the linkage. "link n sync"
Hope this will help...

Re: link n sync 1985 25hp evinrude

ok i got my manual in. i think i've got the first part adjusted correctly. with the roller aligned between the marks the carb butterfly is closed with the throttle wide open the butterfly is wide open also. my question is about the second adjustment is mentions...

Throttle Control Rod Adjustment
1. With the shift lever in FORWARD gear,
the throttle lever should touch its stop.
2. If it does not, loosen the adjustment collar
screw (A, Figure 31).
3. Push the throttle control rod to a full open
position. Position collar in contact with the
nylon pivot block (B, Figure 31) and tighten
the collar screw.

it doesnt mention what position the throttle should be in to do this adjustment..does it matter? if i read #3 correctly if you push the throttle rod completely open, then the throttle is wide open all the time?? i'm lost
