Listing and Trim Tabs

I have a pretty bad list (to port) when on plane. I've tired just about everything to eliminate it. The boat sits perfect in the water at rest and it's not until I hit plane that it lists (and it's bad). This is only my second full season with this boat so I haven't had it too long bit this is driving me nuts)

So, I ordered some automatic trim tabs to try to help with my listing problem. Now I have another problem. The 10" tabs will not fit where they are supposed to because they will hit the swim ladder. Now what the heck do I do? I could move them more central but I'm afraid they won't be nearly as effective.

Anyone solved this issue?

I have a 1999 Four Winns Horizon 180 with a 130 HP Johnson OB

A picture would help... the link you posted just points to a landing page for Photobucket.

What brand tabs did you get?

Sorry about that. I tried to edit but failed.

The tabs are Bennet SLT10s

I'm toying with the idea of an extended swim platform/ladder to make room but other suggestions to limit/eliminate the list would be great

Maybe move the transducer and speedo pickup tube? Those kind of hulls really limit your ability to hang stuff off your transom.

I was thinking the same thing but I'm worried that the tabs will be less effective (if at all) that close to the center line of the boat

I would get real tabs.. The self adjusting tabs are a gateway drug to getting real ones! The ability to adjust the ride of the boat for any condition is well worth the money! Drill and seal the hull once.....

While I agree (and love the analogy) it's difficult, if not impossible, to justify the cost for this particular boat

I would get a swim platform and ladder and do away with the existing ladder. That is what I have on mine with Lenco trim tabs and it works great!

That was actually the conclusion I just arrived at. Can I ask which platform/ladder you went with?

I matched the rest of my boat trim. I have a 1980 Sea Ray with teak rails and ski locker hatch, as well as teak trim around my doghouse. I went with a teak platform with single step flip down ladder on the starboard side of my outdrive. Very similar to this one

The one thing I wish I would have done is get the telescoping ladder option. One step is difficult for larger people or boarding in choppy water.

Thanks very much

I am far from small ;) so I did just order one with the three step telescoping ladder. It's actually a good by-product as it turns out because I always struggle (as does the boss) with getting out with the current setup
