I have an opportunity to purchase this Evinrude, the seller has no idea what year or any information at all. There is an area on the motor that is sticky and says VOID VOID VOID, I am sure there has to be another location for the model and serial number. Any help would be appreciated.

Look for a data plate on the transom bracket. If you find it, write down the model number and post it here. If you can't find that, take to cover off and look for a silver plug on the upper rear of the powerhead. It should have a serial number on it. Someone here may be able to identify the engine from one or both of those numbers.

there should be a little rectangle tag on the transon clamp of the motor with the model and serial numbers, if there is no id tag present there is a something called a welch plug on the engine block, it's round and about the size of a quarter, usually stamped with either the model or serial number, get that number and post it and I'm sure we can help you out!

Re: little help please

the newer motors have a sticker, rather than a plate, on the port lower part of the transom mount. when it is removed it turns to VOID VOID VOID. and that part of the sticker is very hard to remove. it is possible it came off in normal use, but also possible it is stolen. look for a silver quarter size disc in the motor.
