Hi
Im painting my outdrive, and when brushing it I saw a little hole on the opposite side of the vent screw on top of my drive shaft, it could look like it was something like that on the opposite side as well, but not that deep.
Does anyone know what it is for, and how it is suppose to be? Should I try to close it?
Regards
Affa

The hole is a drain for the upper part of the shift shaft cavity. They usally fill with sand. If you are in a cold part of the country the drain should work. If water is trapped in there it will freeze and crack the top forward part of the case. If it get cold where you are dont cover it up.
