Little tube under ford indmar

Hi, On My Ford Indmar 351 5.8l v8 direct drive there is a little tube (2 feet long) with a stopper on it coming from under the engine, the old owner said it is for changing the oil easyer, can i just put this tube through the drain hole when boat is on the trailer and catch the oil in a bucket, or do i have to pump the oil out to change it?<br /><br />cheers<br />ross

So i connect the pump to the tube or the dip stick hole?<br /><br />ross
