Live wells turned into ice chests...

I am planning on turning my livewells into ice chest in my 79 VIP bass boat... Right now there is just the plastic containers. Is there a material I should use to insulate it better because the plastic containers dont hold ice for long... I'm turning this boat into a ski boat so theres no use for the livewells... That and I can use the room that a big ice chest takes up... Any ideas appreciated...

Jon,<br /><br />Spray the outside walls of the livewells with a product called: Great Stuff.<br /><br />Available at Home Depot, Lowes or other such stores.<br /><br />Make sur you leave the drains intact.

good idea djohns...<br /><br />i was thinking quality heat sheild... but it will absorb water... great stuff foam sounds like the perfect solution.

Sounds like a solid plan... now... to get the wells out to do this I need to get the little fasteners off... they are like pins that have a hole in them... can I take a drill a bit bigger and drill the fasteners out then screw them back in with a little wood screw? Thanks for everyone's help!!

akkk nevermind... thats just a plastic shroud.. the livewells are fiberglassed in... took a closer look and will just have to great stuff what I can reach... thanks for yalls help once again.
